Many times we think of the Holy Spirit as a force and he is but he is not only a force or an influence but a person. I read John chapter 16 and how Jesus explained the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
I want to call it the ministry of the Holy Spirit because apart from us doing work (ministry work) the Holy Spirit has a mandate to work and do ministerial work. I like that because it means that God the Holy Spirit is now actively working in the affairs of this world! Just think about that! And what a great work. Praise the name of the Lord! Now this ministerial work is basically twofold - one aimed at the world (which by the way also includes us - we are still in this world) an d also a specific ministry towards believers.
John chapter 16 verse 8 says "And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement:" and then He explained what He meant by that and I know that the Holy Spirit also do this work in us as believers. But the portion that I really want to come to is verse s 14 and 14:- " Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you."
Four things I see here (remember this was given to disciples)
1. Guide you into all truth. Truth versus lies. Truth as doctrine. Truth as honesty. The Holy Spirit wil "GUIDE" us in it. It means that I don't know everything because the Guide only knows the destiny the - road 0 the way and enfolds it as we go along....HE will "GUIDE" us.
2. Shows you things to come. I am amazed of all the gifts and the all the signs etc. - the one gift that the Holy Spirit will really minster to us is in prophecy! Ouch some will say. Well the Holy Spirit either ministers today or He does not and if He ministers then He will show us things to come! That's just how it is.
3. The Holy Spirit will glorify Jesus! The Holy Spirit's work is to glorify - show how glorious the ministry of Jesus was, is and is to come! How glorious also is the person of Jesus! The Holy Spirit wants to talk about Jesus! And want to show His glory!
4. He shall receive of mine and shall show it unto you. That means the Holy Spirit has an interactive communication with Jesus - Jesus shows Him what is the will of Christ/Father, Christ's/the Father's way in executing it, things about Christ Himself etc. I like that interactive communication bit....Not only we pray but the Holy Spirit also prays - there is so much here...He wants to establish Christ in this world!
No doubt there is much more to be said about the ministry of the Holy Spirit but I liked this very much. I believe the ministry of the Holy Spirit is very deep and strong and He will have great success in fulfilling His work! Of that I have no doubt....
GLORY TO JESUS!!!!!! I pray that God will richly bless this short word to you and have a great week.

“Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. “ - 1 Corinthians 15:1-11(ESV)
